GEORGE TOWN, April 8 (Bernama) -- Penang, boosted by a convincing run in the Premier League, are eyeing an immediate return to the Super League next season.
Penang are currently second in the 12-team Premier League table with 26 points after 11 matches, the same as leaders Police who have a better goal difference.
Football Association of Penang (FAP) President Datuk Seri Nazir Ariff Mushir Ariff said initially they (FAP) had only set a modest target of a top four finish in the first season in the Premier League.
"We have achieved our target for the first 11 matches and we hope we can maintain the momentum when going for the next 11 matches. Now I hope they can finish at least among the top two this season to gain promotion to the Super League next season," he told BERNAMA when contacted in George Town, Tuesday.
Earlier, FAP received a shot in the arm when Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng announced a RM1 million contribution through the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) for their overwhelming performance in the first 11 matches of the season.....
