KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Bernama) -- Young tennis player Alyssa Boey Chia Peng has been given a wildcard ticket to represent Malaysia in the BMW Malaysian Open from April 14 to 20, at the Royal Selangor Golf club (RSGC), here.
Boey was chosen by the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) to represent the country in the qualifying round.
"Of course I am happy to receive a wildcard for this tournament. This is a chance for me to gain experience by playing alongside international players. Hopefully I can do my best in the first round.
"I know that my chances are remote in the tournament because all are senior players while I'm just a junior. But I do believe that if we work hard and try our best, we can achieve our goal," she told reporters after the announcement by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) on players who have confirmed their participation.
Japan's Kimiko Date-Krumm, a veteran on the WTA Tour along with Czech Republic's Kristyna Pliskova will compete in the tournament, next week.....
