KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Yachting Association (MYA) will be sending 20 sailors to compete in the Top Of The Gulf Thailand challenge in Pattaya, Thailand from May 1 to 5.
MYA general manager Mohd Afendy Abdullah said he was optimistic that the sailors would be able to perform well in the championship although sailors from Singapore have been showing marked improvement.
"The team has been undergoing training in Langkawi, Kedah for the past six months to prepare for the Top Of The Gulf Thailand. Sailors from Singapore are ahead of us but I am confident with the ability of our sailors," he told Bernama when contacted today.
Apart from training in Langkawi, the MYA had also sent sailors Khairul Nizam Mohd Affendy, Nur Amirah Amin and Khairun Nita Mohd Affendy for a training stint in Croatia.
Among countries expected to be in the forefront during the competition are host Thailand, Singapore, China and Myanmar.....
