SEPANG, March 28 (Bernama) -- Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team driver Lewis Hamilton's campaign to claim a maiden victory in Malaysia got off to a good start on the first practice session classification as he confirmed the fastest lap at the Sepang Circuit, here Friday.
Hamilton clocked one minute 40.691 seconds to take the top from Kimi Raikkonen of Scuderia Ferrari who had lapped in 1:40.843s.
In third position was Hamilton's team mate, Nico Rosberg of Germany with 1:41.028s.
Meanwhile, Malaysian-owned F1 team, Caterham F1 Team drivers Marcus Ericsson (Sweden) and Kamui Kobayashi (Japan), settled for 17th and 19th positions, clocking 1:45.775s and 1:51.180s, respectively.
The second practice session will be held at 2pm.....
