KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry has not finalised venues for the 2017 SEA Games that will be hosted by Malaysia.
Its Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the 2017 SEA Games Organising Committee has not met to decide the venues, including Sarawak, which in principle has been identified as a venue for aquatics.
"I have just made the appointments (members of the committee). After they meet, we will finalise the venues but in principle the Cabinet has agreed to host several sports in Sabah and Sarawak," he told reporters after handing out athletes incentive scheme (Shakam) to winners of gold medals at the 2013 Myanmar SEA Games and Asean Para Games here, today.
Khairy said the ministry must evaluate the selection of suitable venues by taking into account the coordination of logistics and cost involved.
"When we take it to another state, there will be financial implications, not only to us but also the contingents, so we must discuss the matter with them," he said.....
