KUALA TERENGGANU, March 24 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu women's hockey squad that is preparing for the SUKMA in Perlis from May 24 to June 4, have undergone intensive training in China.

Terengganu, winners of the gold medal at the 2012 SUKMA in Pahang, and hoping to defend the gold medal in the women's event, started their training in Changzhou on March 10.

Terengganu Hockey Association (PHT) assistant secretary Nik Zaharah Nik Abdul Kadir said the team's trip to China had received the cooperation of the Wujin Bureau Sports Authority in Changzhou while the team would also play a number of friendly matches with their Under-18 team.

Nik Zaharah said the team comprising 18 players and four officials, including two coaches, Muhamad Sabran Muhamad Sharif and Nor Hasliza Jusoh, returned from the stint yesterday.

"We are grateful that most of the players who played in the 2012 SUKMA are still eligible to play in Perlis. They will be an asset in our quest for the gold," she told Bernama here Monday.....
