South Korea Finish Third, Avoid Penalty Shootout

IPOH, March 23 (Bernama) -- Just seconds before the horn was blown, Jang Jong Hyun flicked in the winning goal for South Korea to clinch a third-place finish in the 23rd Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament at the Azlan Shah Stadium here, Sunday night.

The Asian champions edged 25th ranked China 3-2 after John Hyun made amend to a fumbled penalty corner in the dying minutes of the game.

Jong Hyun made no mistake from the spot after South Korea being given the second chance.

South Korea opened scoring via Kim Young Jin in the 20th minute followed by a penalty corner converted by Jong Hyun four minutes later to make it 2-0.

China managed to force a penalty corner four minutes before the breather and Du Talake converted it to reduce the deficit to 1-2.....
