IPOH, March 17 (Bernama) -- Defending champion Australia continued to demolish their opponents after a third consecutive high scoring victory in the 23rd Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at the Azlan Shah hockey stadium, today.
The Aussies, also known as "Kookaburras" continued their winning ways by defeating South Africa 7-0, in their third match today after having routed China 7-0 and Canada 6-0 in the first two matches.
With the win, Australia have virtually one foot in the final.
"We created plenty of opportunities but did not take them. This happens sometimes but we wanted to continue the pressure," said coach Ric Charlesworth after the match despite winning by a big margin.
"We were wasteful and still not sully fluid. We can still improve by 30 to 40 percent."
The Aussies, despite dominating the action, only scored the first goal that they were desperately looking for, five minutes before the halftime hooter through Trent Mitton who picked up a rebound inside the circle and slammed it home.....
