Khairy Urges Sports Associations To Comply With Sports Institute Advice

REMBAU, March 15 (Bernama) -- In light of the worsening haze in several parts of the country, sports associations and state sports councils have been urged to adhere to the National Sports Institute's advice on athletics training.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said training sessions should be postponed if the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading is too high.

"The training can be resumed when the (haze) condition returns to normal. We do not want to take any risk," he told reporters after opening the 2014 Third Rembau Open Taekwondo Competition organised by the Hypermax Taekwondo Club here Saturday.

He said this when commenting on the haze afflicting the country and causing the quality of air to reach unhealthy levels in several areas.

Khairy, who is also Rembau member of parliament, said the sports institute had issued the advice yesterday to all state sport associations and sports councils on the matter.....
