GEORGE TOWN, March 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysian squash sensation and current world number one Nicol David is ready to defend her world title during the 29th Penang-CIMB Women's World Championship which begins next Tuesday at the Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre (SPICE) here.
The 30-year-old, who will fulfill a lifelong dream of competing in front of her home crowd in Penang, said she is ready and excited to play in her first world championship at her home town.
"I've spent about four weeks in Amsterdam to train with my coach Liz Irving to prepare for this tournament and I will do my best next week to win the tournament," she told reporters here today.
Nicol, who has already won two titles this year - the Tournament of Champions in New York in January and the Cleveland Classic in February, said besides the home crowd, the two titles had boosted her confidence ahead of the tournament.
She will start her campaign against Emma Beddoes of England and a win will see her take on Hong Kong's Annie Au in the second round, the same player she defeated in the Cleveland final while France's world No. 8 Camille Serme awaits in the quarter-finals.....
