KUALA TERENGGANU, March 8 (Bernama) -- It was the happiest moment for Tabriz Petrochemical Team's Mirsamad Porseyedigolakhour when he was named as the first Asian rider to claim the overall title of the 19th Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL).
The Iranian cyclist emerged as the overall champion in the individual category when he completed the 10-day race in 35 hours, 7 minutes and 16 seconds.
The Tour of Qinghai Lake champion last year also won the white jersey as the best Asian rider while his team topped the table as the best Asian team after accumulating 105'26:13s.
"I am very happy to win the Le Tour de Langkawi 2014. It is also very interesting that I am the first Asian and Iranian to win the race in 19 years.
"After winning the Genting Highlands stage, I had quite a tough time but was glad to keep the yellow jersey. Thanks to my team Tabriz Petrochemical for helping me to retain the jersey," he said at a press conference, here Saturday.....
