KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) -- National badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei and men's doubles Hoon Tien How-Tan Wee Kiong advanced to the quarter-final of the All England 2014 at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, England.
Chong Wei defeated team-mate Chong Wei Feng with a straight set 21-6 and 21-12 in 35 minutes in the second match early today (local time).
The number one world player will face Japan's Kento Momota, who defeated host player Rajiv Ouseph 21-15 and 21-10 in another match, according to the website www.bwfbadminton.org//sport.
World's number eight doubles Tien How-Wee Kiong had to struggle hard to defeat Hirokatsu Hashimoto-Noriyasu Hirata of Japan to qualify for the quarter-final.
Tien How-Wee Kiong won in the first set 25-23, but lost 20-22 in the second set, before regaining their confidence and beat Hirokatsu-Noriyasu 21-14 in the match which lasted for one hour and nine minutes.....
