KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- Sabah Tourism Board has extended its commitment to stage the prestigious golf championship, the Sabah Masters, for another three years starting 2015, said its chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
The Sabah Tourism Board has helped to revive the event in 2011 after a 10-year hiatus and they have now further cemented the commitment.
"Having extended our commitment for the Sabah Masters, we will embark on a new campaign to reinforce the tournament's status as the Tour Championship of the Asean Professional Golf Association (ASEAN PGA) Tour.
"The Sabah Masters has been the season-ending event for the past two years and its growing success has inspired a year-long countdown for players eligible to play in the event based on the Order of Merit.
"The campaign is an effort to promote Sabah Tourism and also Sabah as a premier golfing destination in Southeast Asia," said Joniston in a press conference here Thursday.....
