JAKARTA, March 1 (Bernama) -- Indonesian mixed doubles pair Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir are ready to defend their title for the second time in badminton's oldest tournament, the All-England, scheduled from March 4-9 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
Indonesia's badminton governing body PBSI says all preparations are on track for its team of shuttlers including Tontowi and Liliyana, who had won the All- England title for two consecutive years now.
"My personal target at the tournament is to hit a hat-trick. It is a tough challenge but we are ready for it. We want to just enjoy every single game and play without pressure," Liliyana was quoted as saying by the 'Jakarta Globe' English daily.
By winning the final, the duo would become the first mixed doubles pair to clinch the title for three consecutive years since South Korea's Park Joo-bong and Chung Myung-hee who were the men's doubles champions from 1989 to 1991.
Liliyana, who also won the World Championships title last year with Tontowi, said there would be less pressure on the pair at the Al- England this year given that Indonesian men's doubles pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, who are also the reigning world champions in their field, would share some of the pressure to take home the title.....
