KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- Kabaddi, the traditional sport from South Asia, has the potential to be a game that unifies the multiracial population of Malaysia, said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan.
He said kabaddi was growing, not only in the country but also internationally.
"For instance, sepak takraw, which used to be the traditional game of the Malays, has become more popular now that it is a competition sport at the international level. The same goes for kabaddi," he said.
Saravanan spoke to reporters after launching the Fifth International Inter-City Kabaddi Championship at the Titiwangsa Stadium, here, today.
Participants of the championship, which will go on until Sunday, are from 18 teams from four countries - Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Colombia and India.....
