KANGAR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- The assurance given by Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof that the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2014 venues here will be completed on schedule has brought great relief to the Perlis government.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Abdul Jamil Saad said the state government strived to ensure that all facilities would be completed on schedule but several projects were saddled with problems.
However, the assurance given by Fadillah during his visit here on Feb 20 that all projects would be completed on schedule and meet the Public Works Department specifications brought solace to the state, he told reporters here, Wednesday.
Abdul Jamil, who is also 17th Sukma Secretariat chairman, said the facilities affected included the badminton hall and main stadium which be used for the opening ceremony.
Perlis Menteri Besar Azlan Man has ordered contractors involved to work round the clock seven days a week to ensure that all Sukma facilities and venues would be ready for the biennial Games from May 26 May to June 4.....
