KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The South Korean continental cycling team, Team KSPO has withdrawn from the 2014 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) after their rider, Youm Jung Hwan passed away due to a heart attack during training in Seoul, this morning.
LTdL Chief Operating Officer Emir Abdul Jalal said Team KSPO made the decision as a mark of respect to the late Jung Hwan.
He noted that the team's coordinator Jae Yoo had informed the LTdL secretariat today and decided that there would be no replacement.
"Our deepest condolence goes to Jung Hwan's family and Team KSPO. This is a big loss to the sport, particularly to Asian cycling and to our race.
"As a mark of respect, we will also not be adding any team to replace KSPO's slot in LTdL although there are a host of teams on the waiting list. We will start the race with 21 teams instead of 22," said Emir in a statement here today.....
