SHAH ALAM, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Koperasi Pembangunan Ekonomi Luar Bandar Malaysia Berhad (Kodar) has joined forces with the Youth and Sports Ministry to organise the "National Junior Golf Malaysia" programme to produce young talented golfers in five years.
Kodar chairman Nor Akmal Ibos said the programme which tees off in March was specifically aimed at encouraging school children to take up golf.
"Golf in the country has been left behind compared with other countries, so this is an effort to develop golf at the grassroots level, especially in primary and secondary schools," he told reporters at the Kodar Golf Club, here, Wednesday.
Nor Akmal said 30 talented young golfers would be identified from 56 schools in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur and from the 30 who are identified, the best five would be selected and groomed.
He said Kodar had allocated RM15 million to cater for the expenses.....
