KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Eight squads are in the midst of revamping their line-up ahead of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2014 from Feb 27 to March 8.
While exchanging racers is a common phenomenon, the intensity of the revamp in the run-up to the 19th LTdL among professional and pro-continental teams is quite remarkable.
LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal said it was a strategic game plan to clinch stage wins, and king of the hill and overall champion titles.
"In this edition, we are not seeing only contests for the king of the hill or sprint king titles, but also the role of domestic riders and lead-out riders to stamp team supremacy," he told reporters at the LTdL 2014 official hotel sponsorship ceremony here Monday.
Emir said five squads were busy making changes, namely Astana Pro Team (professional teams), and Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela, MTN Qhubeka, Unitedhealthcare Pro Cycling Team and Neri Sottoli-Yellow Fluo (all continental teams).....
