RAUB, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- The expected absence of defending champion Lin Dan and a number of players from China at the prestigious All England Badminton Championships from March 4 to 9, would not give world number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei an easy passage to the title says coach Rashid Sidek.
"The absence of Lin Dan and other Chinese players does not mean Chong Wei can win the title hand down, because other players, especially young players from China are equally capable.
"Chong Wei is consistent at his current level but the back up players from China will be eager to prove themselves with their energetic performances while Chong Wei has already reached his maximum. So, if Chong Wei can maintain his status it will be a proud achievement," he said.
He added that whether players from China or the top players are not playing in the tournament, training and preparations for the championships must go on as usual.
Speculations are rife than Lin Dan and other leading players from China may not be in England for the championships.....
