GEORGE TOWN, Feb 13 (Bernama) - Penang has set a target of 28 gold medals at 17th Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Perlis from May 24 to June 4.
State Sports Council chairman Chong Eng said the gold medal target was based on the performance and training by athletes since last month.
"I believe that we can do better than this target due to the fitness level test on all athletes which showed improvement," she told reporters after the 'Countdown to 17th Sukma' here today.
Penang is banking on karate, archery, weightlifting, wushu, swimming, athletics, tennis, sepak takraw and badminton to deliver gold medals.
It is sending 300 athletes to vie for 1,150 medals, including 356 gold medals, for all 24 events contested.....
