ALOR SETAR, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- The fifth edition of Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge (LIMBC) 2014, scheduled from Oct 13 to 18 Oct this year, will offer total prize money of US$150,000 or RM500,000.
This will be the biggest prize money in the world for a Mountain Bike Challenge (MTB).
The organiser of LIMBC 2014, Human Voyage has raised the prize money by US$25,000 (RM80,000) from last year's edition, with the objective of attracting more participation from local and regional MTB riders in the five categories - Men's Elite, Men's Open, Women's Elite, Men's Master and Senior Men's Master.
"We are intensifying efforts to attract more Asian riders and there's every possibility that a large contingent from top professional Asian riders will ride in the gruelling LIMBC tracks.
"We are also informed that there are many top MTB riders in Asia who want to race in Langkawi following the success story of the first Asian Men's overall champion last year, Kohei Yamamoto (Japan) from Team Specialized Racing," Human Voyage Chief Executive Officer Datuk Malik Mydin said in a statement here Wednesday.....
