KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- National sprinter Harith Ammar Mohd Sobri lived up to his top billing by completing a sprint double in the 2014 Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Games (SUKIPT) by sweeping the men's 200m gold.
Harith Ammar, representing Universiti Malaya, winner of the 100m gold two days ago, clocked 22.26s to beat Mohamad Afif Zulhusmi Alet from UiTM (22.44s) to clinch the gold at the Arena Stadium in University Malaya.
"Though I won the event, I was not satisfied with my time. It was slow, probably because it was held in the morning rather than the afternoon as normally practiced," he told reporters here today.
Harith Ammar who aspires to qualify for the Glasgow Commonwealth in Scotland (July 27-Aug 2) and Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea (Sept 19-Oct 4), is no stranger to the 200m as he had won the 200m silver medal at the 2013 Myanmar SEA Games SEA recently.
However, despite Harith's double gold winning feat, athletes from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) dominated the proceedings on the track and field today by sweeping 12 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze medals.....
