KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- National discuss thrower Muhammad Irfan Samsuddin said he will not take part in the Commonwealth Games but wants to focus on the World Youth Championship in July.
The 18-year-old business major at Universiti Malaya (UM) recorded a throw of 53.16 metres to break the national record at the SEA Games in Myanmar recently.
"I really want to focus my full attention on the World Youth Championship in the United States this year and so I will not take part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
"Furthermore, the date for the Commonwealth Games overlaps that of the World Youth Championship," he told reporters after the final event of throwing the discus at the Higher Institution Sport (SUKIPT) championship, at the UM Sport Arena, here, today.
Muhammad Irfan won the gold medal at SUKIPT but only recorded a throw of 48.05 metres.....
