Last update: 05/02/2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- National shot put record holder Adi Alifuddin Hussin managed to win the gold medal at the Sukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (SUKIPT) despite performing way below his best.

Adi Alifuddin who set the National record at the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia with a distance of 17.54m, hardly lost any sweat to win the gold with a distance of 15.85m.

The performance was also nowhere near the 17.10m distance which he set at the Myanmar SEA Games in December to win the silver medal.

"After the Myanmar SEA Games I took a break, especially so after my coach Mohd Nazar Abdul Rahim passed away...I only started training one week before the SUKIPT.

"Currently I am training for the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in China later this month. I know I must improve my performance to qualify for the Asian Games in Incheon from Sept 19 to Oct 4," he told reporters at Universiti Malaya's Arena Stadium, here today.....
