KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- The Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) organiser's decision to reduce the overall organising cost for the 2014 LTdL by RM2 million is not expected to affect the quality or image of the prestigious cycling event.
Organising the 2014 LTdL is expected to cost RM18 million compared with RM20 million last year.
LTdL chief executive officer Emir Abdul Jalal said the reduction in cost would in no way affect the overall tour but rather a mammoth grand opening ceremony would be part of the programme for the first time.
"This is the first time a decision to reduce the cost has been taken...but the overall organisation of the tour or the stages involved will not be affected or compromised.
"The reduction of the overall cost was through prudent negotiations by the National Sports Council (NSC) and we as the organiser, involving the contractors involved," he said when announcing Telekom Malaysia's (TM) sponsorship pledge at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, here, Tuesday.....
