KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- Pieter Weening of Orica-GreenEDGE team hopes to emerge as the overall winner in the upcoming edition of the prestigious Asian cycling tournament, the 2014 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) which will be held from Feb 27-March 8.
Team manager Shayne Bannan said the 32-year Dutchman who represents the Australian outfit was highly motivated to make a winning return after only managing to clinch runner-up position behind overall champion Colombian Julian Arredondo of the Nippo-De Rosa team in the 2013 edition.
"After finishing second last year, Peter wants to go one step higher," said Bannan in a statement issued by the tournament organiser, here Wednesday.
"Weening is definitely our contender for the title. He really enjoyed the Le Tour de Langkawi last year. His pre-season is going a lot better than what it was last year," Bannan added.
The Australian outfit would be reinforced by their Colombian super climber, Esteban Chavez who won the Tour de l'Avenir of France in 2011, but his capacity to perform at his best is doubtful since he sustained a terrible crash at the Laigueglia Trophy in Italy in February last year and has not raced again since then.....
