KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu Rugby Association (PRNT) will set up a rugby academy by the middle of the year in an effort to develop the sport in the state.
Its secretary, Wan Tarmizi Wan Jusoh said the project mooted by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said would be financed by the state government with the cooperation of the State Education Department and Terengganu Sports Council.
He said the academy would kick off with the 'Handalan Ragbi Kids' programme and most probably, rugby instructors would be engaged from New Zealand, a great rugby nation noted for the All Blacks squad.
Thirty students under the 12, 15 and 18 years categories will be enlisted for the programme, he told reporters after watching the state's under 18 Sukma team's training here Wednesday.
Wan Tarmizi said the association was looking for a suitable location to build the academy and until then, it would be conducting training at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Sulaiman, Batu Buruk here.....
