PETALING JAYA, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- National elite shooter Jonathan Wong Guanjie sprang a surprise when he broke the national record in the men's individual 10m Air Pistol event on the third day of the Selangor Open Shooting Championship at the Subang Shooting Range, near here Saturday.
The Melaka shooter fired 200.1 points to break the record of 197 points created by another national athlete, Eddy Chew at the Tun Hanif Trophy Championship at the same venue, last July.
Eddy, who represented Johor, also exceeded his old record by scoring 197.3 points to settle for the silver while his teammate, Choo Wen Yan had to be contented with the bronze with a score of 176.2 points.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) continued to dominate the championship by collecting another three gold medals through the men's 10m Air Pistol team event and the 25m Standard Pistol for the individual and team categories.
Khalel Abdullah emerged as the best ATM shooter after grabbing two gold medals while the other gold was contributed by the trio of Alais Neek Sulong, Denis Ejoh @ Ajoh and Aziz Yunus in the 10m Air Pistol team event.....
