SEPANG, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Datuk Zakaria Musa, the chef-de-mission (CDM) of the national contingent to the Asean Para Games in Myanmar, is confident the inclusion of new paralympic athletes in the team can bring more success for Malaysia this time around.
He said almost all of the athletes in the contingent comprised young athletes who qualified on merit and would be taking part in 205 events involving 11 of the 12 sports contested.
"I am confident they will be able to surpass the target of 50 gold medals. Their preparations proceeded smoothly.
"We want these young athletes who will be participating for the first time to get experience and prove their capabilities before competing in more prestigious events," he said when met by Bernama at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), here, today.
Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) today sponsored a special chartered flight the ferry 160 athletes and officials to the biennial event from the KL International Airport (KLIA) to Naypyitaw International Airport.....
