Chong Wei Opens 2014 Campaign On Winning Note

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's badminton superstar Datuk Lee Chong Wei opened his 2014 campaign on a winning note, breezing easily into the second round of the Korean Open Super Series at the Olympic Gymnasium Stadium 2 in Seoul today.

The world number one defeated the hosts' Son Wan Ho 21-11 and 21-18 in just 41 minutes in the the first round Wednesday.

Awaiting him in the second round tomorrow is Marc Zwiebler of Germany who defeated Danish rising star Viktor Axelsen 21-19 and 21-16 in the first round.

Accompanying Chong Wei into the second round are national men's doubles pair Goh V Shem and Lim Khim Wah who had to work hard before overcoming English pair Chris Langridge and Peter Mills 14-21, 21-17 and 21-18 in a match that lasted almost an hour.

However, it was not to be for another Malaysian men's singles, Chong Wei Feng, who won at the National Circuit final round last year.....
