NAYPYITAW, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- At least bronze medals are already in the bag for Malaysia in Muay Thai competition at the 27th Myanmar SEA Games when Ain Kamaruddin defeated William Saw from the host country in their quarterfinal bout, here Tuesday.
Competing in the men's 57kg class at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium, Ain silenced the cheers of the local fans by beating Willian 2-1.
Before Ain's bout, four others, led by Mohd Sukri Hassan, Mohd Lokman Akimi Mat Roji, Mohd Faizal Ramli and Mohamad Rafi Abdul Manaf had already made it to the semifinals without having to sweat as only four countries are taking part in the respective class.
Meanwhile, two other Malaysian exponents - Mohd Amirul Ariffin (63.5kg) and Muhammad Fikri Kadir (54kg) - were booted out at the quarterfinal stage.
Muhammad Fikri was beaten by Philip Delarmino from the Philippines via technical knockout while Mohd Amirul lost 1-2 to Myanmar's Soe Lin.....
