LABUAN, May 15 (Bernama) -- A former Labuan member of parliament will join Warisan to help strengthen the party's presence on the island.
Datuk Suhaili Abd Rahman who was Labuan MP for two terms from 1999 to 2008 said he was doing so in response to the people's request for him to lead the island back on track economically.
"I have studied the concept of Warisan's struggles and although I was not in good shape due to my health, I helped campaign for Labuan Warisan's candidate openly to my supporters," he said.
He said the support of the people for Warisan as seen in the just-concluded 14th general election clearly proved that they wanted a change for Labuan.
"I will be joining Warisan through its Labuan division and will be working together with the party to take the island to greater heights once again, as how it was during my terms as MP. The development on the island has been very slow unlike during my tenure, and this is sad for the people," he said.....
