KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- The government has the responsibility to build an ecosystem that enables industries to innovate and thrive in this digital era, said Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo.
He said that while the government recognises the importance of technology, it equally understands that industry needs the building blocks and tools to enable technology to be used and developed.
“It is important because we continuously talk about building ecosystems that will benefit and empower industry.
“Ultimately, we are talking about how we can empower industry so that they can take advantage of this ecosystem that we build to deliver the technology that we need so that we can see solutions to problems of the past, which technology today can solve,” he said in his welcoming address at the artificial intelligence (AI) Leadership Conference here, today.
Hence, Gobind said the Ministry of Digital was established to begin developing strategies for key areas such as infrastructure, security, trust, and talent in the digital segment.
He said that while the government will support industry growth, it will also need guidance and suggestions from industry to build the ecosystem.
“I am quite certain that if we put our minds together, we will ensure that not only do we build an ecosystem that is going to help each and every one of us, but ultimately we will also make sure that no one is left behind in this new world of digital transformation that we all speak so excitedly about,” he said.
The Asia School of Business today hosted the AI-Powered Leadership Conference, which convened global AI pioneers, industry players, regional innovators, and policymakers to explore the future of leadership in an AI-powered world.
In a statement today, Asia School of Business chief executive officer and president, Professor Joseph Cherian, said the conference aimed to ensure that the region’s decision-makers are equipped to navigate AI’s sweeping impact across economies and societies.
He said that as intelligent systems become central to national strategy, corporate competitiveness, and cross-border collaboration, leaders today must pair technical literacy with sound judgement and ethical clarity.
