Flood Evacuees In Kedah Drop, Perak Unchanged

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has dropped, while that in Perak remains unchanged this morning.

In KEDAH, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) said that the number of evacuees had decreased to 259 from 60 families, compared with 264 from 61 families last night.

All evacuees from the Pendang district remain housed at two relief centres (PPS), namely the Tanah Merah Sports Friends Complex Hall and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tunku Intan Shafinaz.

In PERAK, the State JPBN Secretariat said the number of flood evacuees housed at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai, Manjung in Manjung remained at 124 people from 33 families.

The evacuees from Kampung Padang Serai have been accommodated at the centre since Oct 23, as floodwaters in the village have yet to fully recede.

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, in a statement, said the water level of Sungai Kinta in the Kinta district was at the warning level, recording 248.02 metres, exceeding the normal level of 243.5 metres.
