Floods force closure of a school in Sarawak

LIMBANG (Sarawak), Oct 23 -- Heavy rain early today caused flash floods at Sekolah Kebangsaan RC Kubong, forcing the school to close for the day.

Maj Ismail Mahedin of the Sarawak Civil Defence Force, who is with the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, said floodwaters rose to a depth of three feet (almost a metre) at the school.

The school has 142 pupils, 11 teachers and three administrative staff, he said in a statement.
