KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 -- Sedania Innovator Bhd plans to venture into the electronic sports (eSports) business via special purpose vehicle Esports Pte Ltd (ESPL).
In a statement today, the group said it has entered into a share subscription agreement with iCandy Interactive Ltd and Michael Broda to set up ESPL.
Under the agreement, Sedania and iCandy will each own 42.55 per cent of ESPL, while Broda will own 14.9 per cent.
Sedania managing director Datuk Azrin Mohd Noor said he was confident that the parties would be able to collectively develop the eSports industry in Malaysia and in the region.
“We are planning to launch the eSports Pro League in early 2020. ESPL is currently in the building phase for its online tournament platform, and the first season is anticipated to take place from February to December next year,” he said.
The eSports Pro League is a global eSports tournament and media network, an integrated and open ecosystem for tournaments, media brands, publishers, teams and players, focusing on community and digital interactivity.
