KOTA BHARU, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan police believe they will soon be able to identify the suspect involved in a shooting incident at a restaurant in Kampung Neting, Tumpat, on Friday.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan said the police had recorded three statements, including two from the victim's friends, namely a man and a woman in their 30s.
He said, however, the motive of the crime was not yet determined.
"So far, the information obtained from the victim has been minimal, as he is still traumatised.
"However, preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim is the son of a fishing boat owner in Tumpat," he told reporters during a charity event at the Kelantan Contingent Police Headquarters here today.
In the 3.15 pm incident on Friday, a 24-year-old man suffered injuries to his right arm and thigh as he was shot by a man while he was dining with some friends at an eatery in Kampung Neting.
The police are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
