Dr Siti Hasmah launches 'Tabung Pahlawan 2019' campaign

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 -- The Prime Minister's wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali today launched the 'Tabung Pahlawan 2019' (warriors fund) campaign, aimed at collecting funds to assist veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and their family members.

Dr Siti Hasmah, who is also the patron of the fund said the contributions and sacrifices of each warrior must be valued at all times because they had given so much of themselves to safeguard the nation.

"To the warriors in all places, I congratulate you and give you my highest appreciation and also pray that all are in peaceful circumstances," she said in a taped video that was played during the launching ceremony of the 2019 campaign at Wisma Perwira here tonight.

Also present was Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu, MAF chief Gen Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

In his speech, Mohamad Sabu said his ministry had targeted a collection of RM6 million this year through the fund, with disbursements to be made to veterans accordingly.

Among the beneficiaries of the fund were veterans and children with special needs, widows and veterans facing misfortune.

Donations to the fund can be made through its Affin Bank account 1059-5000-3201, which bear the name 'Tabung Rayuan Hari Pahlawan'.
