Morbidelli secures best ever finish in British GP

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Petronas Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider, Franco Morbidelli scored the best result ever in MotoGP, this season after finishing in fifth place in the 2019 British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit in United Kingdom on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Italian rider who started in eighth place in the starting grid, clocked 40 minutes 25.908 seconds in the 17-lap race which was marred with a huge accident, involving a few riders at the preliminary stage of the race.

His teammate, Fabio Quartararo, who was involved in the accident, then, was rushed to the Coventry Hospital for further treatment after complaining about the dizziness he suffered due to the impact from the accident.

Spanish rider, Alex Rins of Team Suzuki Ecstar clinched his second MotoGP title after the Grand Prix of Americas in March after clocking 40 minutes 17.299 seconds, followed by two fellow compatriots -- Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team in second while another Spanish rider, Maverick Vinales of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP in third, with 0.013 seconds and 0.620 seconds behind Rins.
