KOTA BHARU, Aug 20 -- E-sports enthusiasts may appear to be engaged in their cyber world of fighting battles on the screen but they are in fact a very big family of like-minded people hooked on such activities.

Their approach to the game is to win and many started to build their camaraderie of e-sports with fellow players and thereby starting an e-sports and electronic gadget community.

To them, communication is filled with technical jargons of game features and tactics to improve and win and the more superior players are looked up as masters regardless their race and religion.

At the drone flying competition held during the Kelantan state level National Science Week with the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC)  as the implementing agency yesterday, Bernama observed the occasion was filled with the various players displaying great spirit of cooperation among themselves.

The five-day exhibition starting from Aug 15 was participated by Universiti Sains Malaysia Kubang Krian, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Institute of Teacher Education as well as agencies under the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry.

Bernama managed to catch up with three winners of the contest namely Adam Huzairi,18, Mohd Fitri Rizal, 39, and Lau Yoke Wee, 30, after the competition and found there was a strong sense of cooperation among members of the community.

Asked on their perception of the country’s independence, the three said e-sports could help build love for Malaysia and preserve the peace prevailing in the country over the past 62 years.

“We help promote unity and spirit of loyalty through our friendship and cooperation with each other.

We not only go out together for our GP drone hobby but also our various sharing sessions to improve our techniques.

“The efforts of our Father of Independence Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al Haj, will be passed on to us , the Gen Y and it would definitely be in our safe hands,” said Fitri.

For Adam, talks on inciting racial tension recently did not affect his e-sports community as they continue to share with other players.

“Our community is not large but big enough to spread from Perlis to Johor, Sabah and Sarawak and we are very close even though we are linked only via social media,” he added.

“ We only have one language...to look after safety and protect sensitivity so that there is no tension among the races in our community,” he said.
