KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- A housewife faced her worst nightmare when she was robbed by two men armed with a machete in front of a Giant supermarket in Taman Connaught in Cheras yesterday.

But luck was on the 21-year-old victim's side, however, as a police patrol car from the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD) on its rounds came to her rescue.

Cheras district police chief ACP Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said in the 11.20pm incident, the woman did not only have the machete held to her neck but was also punched in the cheek.

"During the incident, one of the men opened the door of the complainant's car and grabbed her bag and a handphone ... the victim was also punched in the cheek but fought back by kicking the door towards the man," he said in a statement here today.

He said a 34-year-old man was nabbed while another escaped by motorcycle after colliding with a police patrol car. "Efforts to locate another suspect are ongoing," he said, adding that the suspect tested positive for drugs.

Mohamed Mokhsein said the suspect was remanded for seven days from today for further investigation under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
