MELAKA, July 18 (Bernama) -- Road users can expect closures and diversions on several roads from the Bukit Rambai Industrial Estate towards the Tanjung Bruas Jetty for three days from tomorrow to ensure and facilitate the smooth transportation of a large vessel.
State Public Works, Transport and Public Amenities Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sofi Abdul Wahab, said the road closures which would be carried in stages, were necessary as it involved a huge cargo vessel measuring 99.3 metres (m) in length with a width of 5.13 m and a height of 6.726m.
He said the state Public Works Department had issued a permit to the cargo company, Syraikat Aman Logistik Sdn Bhd on behalf of the vessel owner KNM Sdn Bhd, yesterday.
"The route from the Bukit Rambai Industrial Area towards Taman Tanjung Minyak Perdana will be closed from 9am to 12pm, while the clossure from Taman Tanjung Minyak Perdana via the SPA highway to the Sungai Udang junction would be from 9am to 5pm on Saturday.
"In addition, the affected roads the from the Sungai Udang junction to the Tanjung Bruas Jetty would also be closed from 4am to 12pm," he said.
Mohd Sofi, the Durian Tunggal state assemblyman, said that the state government had also refuted allegations on social media that the mammoth task of transporting the 100m cargo would cause difficulties to the local community.
