He said that they even went to the same schools, namely, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Ismail Petra and Sekolah Menengah (SM) Putera.

He said that the incident was very shocking because his younger brother was among those who could be depended on to drive especially long distances.

‘’Before he left for Perlis, he had just returned from Kuala Lumpur with our father. Indeed, we did not expect this accident to cost him his life what more with his two bosom buddies since small,’’ he said.

In the incident at 4.20 pm, the Perodua MyVi Mohamad Syahidi and his two good friends were travelling in, collided with a tour bus, killing them on the spot.

It is understood that they were travelling from Penang via Baling and heading to Kota Bharu while the tour bus was from the direction of Gerik for Penang.

Meanwhile, another victim in the vehicle, Mohd Shahrin Rasid, 23, was severely injured and was sent to the Gerik Hospital.

According to Mohamad Syafiq, his brother and his friends were actually heading to Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Arau, Perlis, to exchange cars with his youngest sibling, Mohamad Syarif, 19, and planned to go to Penang.

He said that he found out about the incident befalling his younger brother after receiving a telephone call from his father, Ahmad Kamil Sa’ud, 62, who were given the bad news by the police.

‘’We are claiming his body to take home for burial today.

‘’Mohamad Syahidi was the fifth of six siblings. He was having his semester holiday and was in Second Year for a diploma in Geomatics at the Merlimau Polytechnic, Melaka,’’ he said.
