MELAKA, June 25 (Bernama) -- The International Conference on Smart Community and Industry (ICSCI) 2019, to be held here from Oct 16 to 18, is expected to attract 300 participants from the academia and industry.
Melaka Communication, Multimedia, NGO, Youth and Sports Exco Kerk Chee Yee said it is aimed at providing a platform for academia and industry to share know-how on current technology in addressing the challenges of Industry 4.0.
As Melaka is working towards Smart City to improve the quality of daily life using high-speed internet, Internet-of-things and smart technology, this conference provides a good platform for researchers, experts and industry practitioners to inculcate awareness on Industry 4.0 and Smart City, he told Bernama today.
The conference, themed 'Bridging the Gap between Academic and Industry in Accelerating Industry 4.0 and Smart City', is being co-organised by the Melaka government, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Infineon Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Malaysia Network.
A series of workshops, parallel presentation sessions, poster presentation and round-table discussions will be held during the conference.
Dr Olaf Herzog from Infineon Technologies AG of Germany will be the keynote speaker representing the industry, sharing his experience in automation and factory control in leading-edge semiconductor factories as well as retrofitting Industry 4.0 into manufacturing factories.
