BATU GAJAH, May 23 (Bernama) -- A total 3,500 General Operations Force (GOF) personnel will be on duty at 52 locations nationwide under Ops Bantu in conjunction with the Aidilfitri festivity.

GOF deputy chief Commissioner (Operations) Norhafifi Ismail said GOF would station more personnel at main roads in East Coast states following the congestions during the festive season.

He said the operation, which would implemented during the festive season, was specifically to help road users in emergencies on the road.

‘’Ops Bantu is aimed at helping road users whether on federal or state roads during emergencies and difficulties when returning to their villages and returning to town in conjunction with the festive season.

‘’For example, if the road users experience break-downs such as punctured tyres, battery problem or run out of fuel, we will extend aid with adequate logistics and equipment,’’ he said.

He said this when met by reporters after handing over food and porridge to 25 inmates of Titian Abadi Muslim Old Folks Welfare Home (PEKITA) here today.

Commenting further, Norhafifi said numerous types of GOF vehicles and logistics would be mobilised including four-wheel drive vehicles, ambulance and lorries at all the locations during the operation.
