JOHOR BAHRU, April 19 (Bernama) -- National cyclist Muhammad Shaiful Adlan Mohd Shukri, boosted by winning the Black Jersey (Best Young Rider) at the Tour de Iskandar Johor (TdIJ) 2019 today, is bent on making the SEA Games in the Philippines this year.
“That is my aim (the SEA Games), but let’s see how they choose the riders for the Games,” said the 21-year-old after the closing ceremony of the TdIJ at Kompleks Yayasan Warisan here today.
In the third and final stage of the inaugural TdIJ today, Muhammad Shaiful Adlan of Team Sapura Cycling (TSC) retained the Black Jersey, with a time of eight hours, 35 minutes and six seconds, despite the stiff challenge from Team Ukya’s Kosuke Takeyama.
“Now, we will head to Uzbekistan for the Asia Cycling Championships on April 21,” said the Kuala Terengganu-born cyclist, who admitted that winning the Best Young Rider in the TdIJ was his best achievement after a year with TSC.
“I will again do my best if given the opportunity by TSC,” said the youngster, who named teammate Muhammad Zawawi Azman and four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome of Team Sky as his idols.
