KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 (Bernama) -- The renewable energy is expected to play a fundamental role in Malaysia's attempt to shift away from fossil fuel, as well as to embrace the global commitment on climate change and sustainability, said the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
In its e-newsletter for the March 2019 issue, MIDA said in 2018 alone, it conducted more than 50 programmes locally and abroad.
“We will continue to play our part to promote and facilitate further investments in green technology services,” it said.
The e-newsletter said Malaysia had, through the continuous enhancement of solar energy-related policies, taken crucial steps in incorporating a more proactive approach to encourage the participation of government agencies, the private sector and the public in the solar energy sector.
It said among the initiatives taken by Malaysia in shifting the energy supply industry towards incorporating more renewable energy mix included the implementation of Large Scale Solar projects, Supply Agreement for Renewable Energy and Net Energy Metering scheme.
