KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) -- Genting Malaysia Bhd or its special purpose vehicle (SPV) company is buying the Superyacht Equanimity for US$126 million (US$1=RM4.08), attorney general Tommy Thomas announced in a statement here, today.
Genting Malaysia is in the gaming, hotel and resort-related operations.
At 11.37 am, its share price traded at RM3.26, up by nine sen with a total of 2,258,200 changing hands.
Other related companies, Genting Bhd rose 16 sen to RM6.86 and Genting Plantation was flat at RM10.50.
The price was the best offer received over the 5 months, from October 2018, when the Equanimity was first put up for sale.
Many offers were received in this period, and a few were over US$100 million, said Tommy.
“It was Genting however, that offered the highest price, that was today approved by Court for acceptance. As the Genting offer was negotiated directly with the Government of Malaysia, no agency commission is payable; resulting in a savings of about US$4.4 million,” he said.
