Last update: 14/03/2019
KUCHING, March 14 (Bernama) -- One of eight Sarawak top scorers in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2018, Constance Wong Chia Yii says her hard work in preparing for her SPM examination last year has paid off when she obtained 9As.

Wong, of SMK Sungai Maong, Padawan, said her excellent SPM result was a beautiful gift for her parents, teachers and friends who gave her support and encouragement during the entire examination period.

“I studied for three to four hours daily and sleep for 10 to 15 minutes whenever I felt tired… The best therapy for me is listening to songs that actually make me feel calm and focus,” she said after the SPM results was announced by Sarawak Education deputy director, Abang Mat Ali Abang Masagus here today.

Constance, the youngest of three siblings, said she would apply for a scholarship to pursue her dream of becoming a dentist.

She was among eight candidates in Sarawak who scored A+ in all subjects in their SPM 2018.

Meanwhile another candidate who scored 9As, Muhammad Hazim Isa of SM Sains Kuching Utara, Padawan, said he was grateful to be given the opportunity to study at the school due to conducive environment that always inspired him to study well.

“Our teachers motivate us to walk the extra miles and helping us by providing extra materials to work on.

“I would also make a point of having the right balance between focussing on my study, time to play, and to sleep,” he said.

Earlier Abang Mat Ali said results could also be viewed via short message service (SMS) by typing their identity card number and then key in their SPM examination number (angka giliran) and send to 15888.

All candidates received their SPM results from 10am today, he said.
